Fantastic Four #2 - Jack Kirby art & cover + 1st Skrulls

Jack Kirby
Fantastic Four v1 #2, 1962 - Arriving on Earth for the first time, the their shape-changing Skrulls turn society against the Fantastic Four. Although recognizable, Jack Kirby's work is fairly conservative. The layouts are standard far and take few chances, despite the newness of the series. The artist employs three larger panels within the story, an attempt to break up some of the monotonous pacing. This story was later reprinted in Fantastic Four annual #7. The issue's highlight is a pin-up page of the Thing in all his grotesque glory. Written by Stan Lee, this is 2 of 116 Fantastic Four issues by Kirby. /// key 1st appearance, 1st cover Skrulls
