Steve Ditko
Mysterious Suspense v1 #1, 1968 - The Question returns in this one-shot issue, his first and only solo book from the era and his first full cover appearance. The opening splash by Rocco Mastroserio seems oddly out of place. The majority of the book is drawn by Steve Ditko, organized into two chapters. With the exception of page 13, showing the hero's transformation into costume, most of the pages are comprised of small, static panels (see interior page below). Philosophically wordy, the dialogue leaves considerably less room for the art. Still, within the small frames, Ditko's draftsmanship is undeniable. His cover is an even better example of his superb sense of design. This is 1 of 1 Mysterious Suspense issues by Ditko. /// key 1st cover Question, 1st issue
